My notes

The idea to arrange the poetic Morning Mood from Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt came to my mind after having received an invitation to play at the gigantic Shanghai Art's Center concert hall, as part of a prestigious concert series. My logic was simple - concerts at this series usually start at 10 am - so, having been a night owl my whole life, I would definitely need a piece to wake up with to start my early morning performance. I am joking, of course, but the truth lies not very far away. I arranged the first piece quickly and, warmed up, I immediately began another one, Anitra's Dance. I savored different styles and textures while exploring the piece; and, in the end, my imagination transformed it into a little personal poem, uniting waltz and tango into some sharp, provocative, and sensuous whole.
